Easton-in-Gordano & Pill Allotment Association
We are an Association of approximately 100 members, and a Committee of members manage the site. We offer plots of land to rent for the purpose of growing, primarily food crops. We aim to create a friendly community of growers, promoting growing your own, encouraging diversity and sustainable food production.
The Allotment Association occupies a field accessed from Cross Lanes in Pill. The field is currently split into c. 60 allotments of varying sizes. Any adult resident of the Parish of Easton-in-Gordano and Pill is entitled to rent a plot, subject to availability.
The field is rented from the Parish Council, and managed by a committee drawn from the association membership. The committee is elected each year at an Annual General Meeting to which all plotholders are invited. Amongst other things, the Committee ensures that the conditions of the Lease are met, that bills are paid on time, and that necessary maintenance is carried out.
Plotholders pay a peppercorn rent for their plots, and an equally small membership fee to belong to the Association. A further small fee entitles plotholders to use of a variety of machinery to help with cultivation and maintenance of their plots.
In order to meet association costs – rent, insurance, water, electricity etc – income from rents and membership fees is supplemented by the proceeds of a number of social events held throughout the year, including a plant sale, open day and annual bonfire
Further information is available on our Facebook page Easton-in-Gordano and Pill Allotments or you can contact a Committee Member, who will be happy to help. Their names and phone numbers are available on the Notice Board near the main gate of the allotment field.
