The Neighbourhood Plan will set out how our area – which runs from Leigh Woods right down to the Severn Estuary – might look like by 2036. Lots of issues have been discussed in the community, by the Parish Councils and by local businesses.
Important questions have come up – should we keep the Green Belt? Do we want 1000 new houses at Martcombe? How can we get some affordable housing? Are there enough local jobs for local people? Can the Pill Precinct be improved? What can be done about traffic overload on the A 369 and the Pill Loop? Will the new railway station cause problems for traffic? How can heritage and environmental assets be sustained? How do we respond to climate change and protect biodiversity?…………………..and lots more questions.
Thanks to lots of input from individuals and community groups the Neighbourhood Plan is coming closer to completion. We are holding some local exhibitions so that local people can see what’s in the Plan, what are the aims, objectives and key priorities, and how we have tried to answer these questions.
Community consultation is very important. There will be another opportunity to comment on the draft Plan in a couple of months, but this is now the time to ask questions, make comments and offer suggestions.
